BTW, after a long wait and ultimately finding out that the X61 with the T8300 is only built on order (Lenovo, you're not clear enough about that!), I finally got my X61. It doesn't feel as robust and well built as my old X31 but makes a good first impression. Now I only have to find out why only 5% of the Internet requests make it through the wireless connection. And I really have to consider downgrading to WinXP as Vista eats up memory and is unbelievably slow.

If it's any encouragement, see my similarly-frustrated blog entry from last year:
http://bahumbug.wordpress.com/2007/03/31/non-air-travel/

and compare it to my much more optimistic entry from yesterday:
http://bahumbug.wordpress.com/2008/03/29/apachecon-for-brits/
(other relevant entries are tagged apachecon).

Nice to see someone else taking the trouble to avoid flying, but of course it's so wrong that such a decision should be so unusual as to be blogworthy!

That's great! Congratulations on such a momentous achievement! I suspect my old company is still using it to produce many of their millions of PDF EOBs every month for such clients as Zurich, Farmers, and many of the State Funds around the United States.

Congrats again!

Congrats, that's a real surprise but well deserved!
And as you know I'm one of the (hundreds? thousands?) happy users without contributing back ;-)

This issue is now fixed in FOP Trunk. FOP will now produce PDF/A-1b following the technical corrigendum 1 of ISO 19005-1.

The blog is an excellent format. I found this from Google Blogsearch and it answered my question, what is all this about Mars and XML? At least it gave me a clue someone is thinking about this. more questions later on the right topic of course. But meanwhile, to blog is ok that is my view.

Thanks for the feedback! I can do the final release sometime in March, I think. I'm still tracking down a bug in DataMatrix. But even though there are 850 downloads for 2.0alpha1 and 380 for 2.0alpha2, less than 10 people have bothered to give feedback. A couple of bugs were reported but not much else. So your feedback is worth that much more!

Hey Jeremias! I asked our development team to evaluate v. 2.0, and they said it worked fine; they tested code 128 and DataMatrix and reported no problems. When do you think you'll be posting a final release?

Awesome -- I've asked our development team to evaluate the alpha (I'm just one of the suits so I can't offer any meaningful feedback ;-)).

I'll let you know what they say...
